We were excited to attend the 2019 Public Agency Banquet and Military Ball this summer hosted by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) – Houston/Galveston Post at the Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington Field.
Why does SAME matter to Midtown Engineers? Because SAME unites individuals and organizations across multiple disciplines in public and private sectors in support of America’s national security. The annual banquet is a highly anticipated event for our team, as it offers an opportunity for staff to network with colleagues and clients from the Greater Houston area and beyond, while supporting a worthy cause that aligns with our collective values.
The Houston/Galveston Post contributes proceeds from a silent auction to the SAME Foundation to sponsor leadership development, mentoring programs, and camps for students interested in STEM-related fields.
Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), delivered the evening’s keynote address. Following the presentation of awards for large firm, small firm, and public agency of the year, SAME gave special recognition to Lars Zetterstrom, commanding officer of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, who officially retired in a ceremony on July 2.
It was an inspiring and enlightening evening. Midtown Engineers looks forward to attending next year’s banquet and to our continued connection with SAME and the community it brings together.
